Outline for the Second Term Paper


I. Introduction
  • a. Introduce squirrel scene
  • b. Physics principles broken in the scene
  • c. Thesis - The physics are mostly based on the real world but as a cartoon it takes certain liberties to increase the entertainment factor of a scene.
II. Law of Inertia
  • a. Merlin jumps off a branch and falls straight down rather than in an arc
  • b. Arthur also leaps from a branch in an arc but later falls straight down
  • c. Wolf flies off a cliff horizontally while chasing girl squirrel
III. Action and Reaction
  • a. Fat squirrel shoves Merlin into a tree with a big reaction
  • 1. Compare it to earlier scene when girl squirrel shoves Arthur
IV. Gravity
  • a. Falling tree branch vs. falling log from cliff vs. falling squirrels
  • 1. They all fall at different rates
  • 2. Compare to scene of falling leaves (based on real world)
  • b. Girl squirrel hangs in mid-air when grabbing onto Arthur
V. Conclusion
  • a. Restate points
  • b. Thesis
